There is a Special Enrollment Period for eligible customers to enroll and get access to new financial help from the state of Connecticut. Read this before you enroll.

All standard health plans offered through Access Health CT cover ten Essential Health Benefits. This means you’ll have coverage for preventive services, emergency room visits, hospitalization, prescription drugs, mental health services and more. These services will help make sure you get the care you need when you need it.

Preventive services include annual checkups, health screenings for cancer or other serious conditions, vaccines and more. They’re important because they can catch an illness or disease in its early stage and help keep it from becoming more serious.

IMPORTANT: You can use preventive services without having to pay your deductible. You also won’t have a copay for these services.

So, use your preventive services. They’ll help you save your money and your health.

Ten Essential Health Benefits

There are 10 Essential Health Benefits included in every standard health plan through Access Health CT:

  3. Hospitalization, including overnight stays and surgery
  4. Care before, during and after having a baby
  5. Mental health care and support for substance abuse
  6. Prescription drugs and vaccines
  7. Physical therapy and devices like wheelchairs, crutches and hearing aids that help people with disabilities or injuries
  8. Laboratory tests and screenings.
  9. Wellness visits, tests and check-ups.
  10. Medical, dental and vision care for kids.

Plus, some health plans offer additional benefits like adult vision coverage and more.

Dental Insurance

Most health plans offered through Access Health CT include pediatric dental coverage for anyone under 26 years old. Some plans include limited dental benefits for adults. You can also choose to enroll in a dental insurance plan through Access Health CT, called a Stand-Alone Dental Plan. You can enroll in both health and dental insurance, or you can enroll in just one or the other.

How do I know what my health plan covers?

Always carefully look at the coverage documents from your insurance company.  Your insurance company can also help you better understand the health services your plan covers and what you might have to pay for them. Complete coverage documents are available on our website for every plan. This makes it easier for you to compare before you sign up. Once enrolled, you can look back at these documents anytime in your Consumer Account. You can also learn more and compare plans, here.

If you need help figuring out any of this, we’re here to help you for free — in person, online and over the phone.
